Trestle tables have existed in many different forms for centuries. This table is not patterned from one particular table but from elements of several different historic designs. We will make the base using tusk and pegged mortise and tenon joinery making for a super solid, long lasting framework. The table top will be made from wide white pine boards with mortise and tenoned breadboard ends to hold everything flat. The top is mounts to the base using removable tapered dowels to lock it to the frame. To disassemble the table for transport or storage, simply tap out the top dowels, the table top comes of. Then remove the wedges from the tusk tenons and the base assembly breaks down flat. Only tool needed to assemble or disassemble is a mallet or hammer.
